Guiding Principles

  • Space for Freedom
There is a dedicated space for experimentation : the Hackspace. If the space is not booked and what you intend to do takes no more than 6 hours, go nuts.

  • Big Decision
The rest of the lab is used by everyone. If you have an idea for a lasting change (modification that would impact others long-term) talk about it in person with as many people as possible, then talk about it on Slack to see how the wider-group feels about it.
Aim for a compromise that is best for everyone.

  • Sharing Knowledge
Take pictures, write notes and settings, then share them with others. It may it be a blog, a Thingiverse project, a workshop or a full-blown webpage. Take a break to reflect about what you have done and discuss it with others. Others (including your future self) will love you for sharing and collaborating on your ideas.

  • Safety
Please have someone show you how to safely use any tool you are unfamiliar with before turning it on. Always use the correct safety equipment, and always warn other members in the space before making loud noises.
